I just started taking a Management and Leadership class as part of my graduate program at UO. The book that we are reading is "Leadership Challenge" by Kouzes and Posner. The jist of the book (and I'll know more by the end of the term) is a practical approach to teaching leadership at all levels. It uses anecdotal information to show "how" to be a successful leader. I'm really excited about this class to tighten my existing leadership qualities.
Here is a funny video explaining important values learned from Kouzes and Posner. Enjoy!

I just read an interesting journal article for a research project that I'm conducting, and found an interesting fact about the impact of the CEO on the corporations reputation. It said that 40 percent of a company's reputation is based on the actions of a CEO. Does that seem high? While this isn't shocking news, it's evidence that CEOs need to be buttoned-up, and socially responsible.
As a journalist and a Marcom specialist I've met a range of CEOs. They all differ, yet most seem to have that spark of enthusiasm that is so contagious and inspiring.
