So why would people want to share PowerPoint presentations?
I came across SlideShare over at Strategic Public Relations, and I'm intrigued by the potential applications for something like this.
In essence, the site allows you to share your presentations in a social networking format. The site enables tagging, "zing"-ing (think Digg) and commenting, and presentations are also indexed in search engines. The downsides: According to its FAQs, it does not support transitions, animations, audio or video, which is going to make a lot of presentations that rely on building or media-related content a lot less effective.
Personally, I might be use SlideShare to review presentations from a recent marketing-related conference or when I'm visually trying to teach myself something.
You could also use it to easily share a client's presentation—whether from a recent industry conference or as part of an awareness campaign—across the Web. As SlideShare provides easy links to embed a presentation in a blog and link to certain slides, sharing the presentation with others (and extending its reach!) is a piece of cake.
Any other ideas of how to effectively use this site?
